OXFAM Bangladesh

See how Kaz Software built a geospatial platform documenting climate impacts and amplifying community voices for advocacy and action.

When the effects of climate change are invisible, justice becomes impossible. OXFAM needed a digital platform to make the invisible visible—turning field data from 100+ vulnerable regions into maps, stories, and insights that influence climate policy and finance decisions.

The Need

OXFAM required a web-based geospatial documentation system that could translate raw field data into evidence-based climate advocacy.

Document climate impacts across 100+ regions

Visualize 50,000+ community data points

Integrate mobile tools (KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO) for real-time uploads

Support both operational monitoring and advocacy visualization

The Solution

We built a geospatial platform that enables OXFAM to document climate impacts across Bangladesh through mapped evidence of flooding, erosion, salinity intrusion, cyclones, drought, and displacement. Each impact is geocoded into a spatial database, allowing users to spot patterns, track changes over time, and identify regions facing overlapping climate threats. Interactive maps and dashboards offer real-time visualization during climate events, supporting rapid assessments, response coordination, and compelling evidence for policy advocacy.
A decision-support layer helps prioritize high-risk areas, compare vulnerabilities, model future scenarios, and generate data-backed adaptation recommendations. The platform also uplifts marginalized voices by mapping women’s and youth experiences for the GROW Program, enabling community-driven advocacy. Built with open-source GIS tools, RESTful APIs, and mobile data collection tools like KoboToolbox and SurveyCTO, it supports offline field data gathering and seamless synchronization. The system now monitors 100+ climate-vulnerable regions and visualizes 50,000+ community data points, giving OXFAM unprecedented visibility for climate action and advocacy.

The Challenge

Capturing and visualizing real-time loss and damage data from remote regions—often offline—required blending GIS accuracy, mobile integration, and narrative empathy into one seamless platform.

The Partnership

Our partnership with OXFAM combined humanitarian insight with technical innovation. We worked directly with climate field teams and community leaders to ensure the platform captured not just data, but lived experiences.
Built with Vue.js, Laravel, and open-source GIS tools, the system integrates real-time data from KoboToolbox and SurveyCTO—transforming local evidence into national advocacy through dynamic maps, dashboards, and decision support systems.
