Traditional crop disease control was slow, manual, and wasteful. Virus Shield Biosciences aimed to automate detection and treatment through a drone-based, AI-driven system that could identify diseases in real time, apply pesticides only where needed, and save both cost and labor.

The Solution
We partnered with UK-based Virus Shield Biosciences to build an AI-powered drone platform that detects crop diseases in real time and automates targeted spraying. Using CVAT-labeled datasets and Detectron2, the system analyzes live drone footage, identifies symptoms, maps infected zones via GPS, and issues instant alerts. Its adaptable ML architecture supports diverse crop types and improves continuously with new data.
Through DJI SDK integration, the platform automates spray planning and execution—calculating pesticide needs, generating optimized flight paths, and activating sprayers only over diseased areas. This reduces pesticide waste, prevents yield loss, removes most manual scouting, and has delivered measurable impact: up to 70% pesticide reduction and 5,000+ labor hours saved.
The Challenge
Building an AI model that could identify multiple crop diseases in real-world conditions, while processing drone video in real time, required deep ML expertise and optimization for edge computing. The integration with DJI drones had to ensure seamless flight automation and precision spray control.

Our partnership with Virus Shield Biosciences was driven by innovation and impact. Working with agricultural scientists and drone engineers, we co-created an end-to-end platform that detects, diagnoses, and treats diseases autonomously.
The system was built using Python, Detectron2, CVAT, Node.js, React, DJI SDK, AWS Lambda, Google Maps API, and MongoDB — uniting AI analytics, spatial intelligence, and automation into a single ecosystem.
