The Need
Octava’s founders wanted to create a platform that could deepen audience engagement with classical music while staying unobtrusive during live performances. Their vision was to provide orchestras with tools to author content, gain analytics, and extend their market reach — while giving audiences a mobile app that delivered real-time insights, enhancing appreciation of performances without distraction.
Octava needed a technology partner who could:

• Ensure scalability for multiple venues and large audiences worldwide.
• Deliver the solution within tight academic-to-market timelines.
The Solution
We built a web based administrative interface for orchestras and a mobile application for iOS and Android concert audiences. The web platform enables orchestras to register venues, prepare content synchronized with musical scores, and assemble performance bundles with customizable templates, typography, and imagery. A built-in performance delivery mechanism allows real-time content broadcasting to attendees through any internet connected browser.
To support high availability requirements across multiple simultaneous concerts, we selected AWS services for scalability. Xamarin enabled a cross platform mobile application that reduced development time, and .NET with C# powered the backend API. Angular provided a responsive, configurable browser interface for orchestral teams.
The Challenge
We want to connect audiences more deeply to the performers, culture, and history of classical music during concert events with an engaging, yet completely unobtrusive app.
That was the vision of Octava’s founders a composer and a visual artist who saw the opportunity to transform classical concerts into more immersive experiences. Initially conceived as an academic research project, the concept underwent usability studies before moving into full product development.
