The Need
JoyList needed a solution that merged the familiarity of Twitter, Yelp, and Facebook but tailored it for trusted personal recommendations from friends and family. The goal was to build a product where endorsements were authentic, relevant, and accessible right when users were planning new experiences.
The Solution
We built JoyList by identifying core MVP features and rapidly defining the software specification to meet an accelerated delivery schedule. Version 1.0 of the responsive web application was developed in short cycles to gather early user feedback, while later cycles focused on preparing the platform for real-world pressure testing and user adoption validation. This approach ensured that essential discovery, planning, and iteration informed the product roadmap.
The platform uses a Node.js based architecture with React on the frontend, supported by MongoDB and Hapi for data and API structure. AWS services provided serverless processing, CI CD pipelines, storage, and global content distribution, delivering scalability without compromising timeline needs.

The challenge was intensified by a limited budget and short timeline, requiring us to be creative while delivering a reliable MVP.
